Install and activate the plugin

Questions before you start

How do I create a vCard QR code?

It is very simple: go to QR Codes > Add New in your WordPress dashboard. Fill in the contact details (name, phone, email, website, etc.), choose the delivery mode (direct download, landing page or static QR), customise the appearance and publish. The QR code is generated automatically in PNG and SVG. You can download it straight away or use it in shortcodes on your pages.

What is the difference between the three delivery modes?

Direct download: The scan is recorded in your database, then the device downloads the vCard file automatically to save it to the contacts.

Landing page: The scan is recorded, and a custom web page is shown with the profile photo, formatted contact details and buttons to call, send an email or visit the website.

Static QR: There is no tracking. The code contains the compressed vCard directly. When it is scanned, the device opens the vCard without going through your server. Useful for printed materials where you do not need analytics.

Is scan tracking GDPR compatible?

Yes, completely. We do not store IP addresses in plain text. Instead, we hash each IP with SHA-256 before saving it, which means it is impossible to identify an individual user from the stored data. We do not capture any additional personal information either: only the IP hash, timestamp, device and browser. The data is stored locally in your WordPress database, under your full control. You can delete tracking records at any time from the admin dashboard.

Can I customise the landing pages?

Completely. Each QR code has its own customisable landing page. You can upload a profile photo, choose an accent colour applied to buttons and headings, and customise all the text in several languages (Spanish, Galician, English). The landing page is responsive and looks perfect on mobiles, tablets and desktops. You can also turn off certain fields if you do not need them.

Can I set an expiry date or a scan limit?

Yes, in the Access rules section (available in the Agency version and above) you can:

Set an expiry date: after this date, the QR no longer works.
Limit the number of scans: after X scans, the QR is deactivated.
Protect it with a password: the user must enter a password before accessing it.

This is ideal for temporary events, limited offers or controlled distribution of contacts.

How do I show a QR code on a page or post?

Use the shortcode: [bdw_qr id="123"] where 123 is the ID of the QR code.

Optional attributes:

size - Size in pixels (default: 320)
format - svg or png (default: svg)
fg - Foreground colour in hexadecimal (default: #000000)
bg - Background colour in hexadecimal (default: #ffffff)
logo_id - ID of an image from the media library to overlay as a logo
download - Show a download button: 1 or 0 (default: 0)

Can I export my QR codes in different formats?

Yes. From the list of QR codes or from the edit screen, you can download each QR in:

PNG: Ideal for the web, social media and digital documents. Supports a transparent background.
SVG: Infinitely scalable without loss of quality. Perfect for professional printing, vinyl and large formats.

Both formats are generated on the server, with no external dependencies. You can choose the size (in pixels for PNG, automatic for SVG) before downloading.

What happens if my license expires?

The QR codes you have already created keep working indefinitely. They are not deleted or deactivated. What changes is that you lose access to the new premium features (advanced analytics, access rules, shortcodes with attributes) and stop receiving automatic updates. You can renew your license at any time from the admin dashboard. If you renew within 30 days of the expiry, you get an automatic renewal discount.

Does it work with WordPress multisite?

Yes, fully compatible. Each site in your multisite network has its own set of QR codes and independent analytics. The license is activated at network level, not per individual site, so an Agency license (5 sites) works perfectly on a multisite installation with 5 sites or fewer.
