[B] Easy Head & Footer for Elementor

Custom Elementor headers & footers — without Pro.

Works with Elementor

What it solves

The Problem

Elementor Pro’s Theme Builder is the standard way to create custom headers and footers, but many users and agencies only have the free version. Manually injecting header/footer code is fragile, theme-dependent, and hard to maintain.

The Solution

Easy Head & Footer for Elementor gives you a dedicated “Templates H/F” custom post type that you design visually with Elementor (Free). Pick one template for the header and one for the footer in the plugin settings — they are rendered site-wide via wp_body_open and wp_footer hooks, with full Elementor Kit styling.

Key Capabilities

  • Dedicated CPT — bdw_ehfe_template registered with full Elementor support; edit with the visual builder.
  • Display Conditions — restrict header/footer to specific post types (include/exclude) or URL patterns (substring or regex), without Elementor Pro.
  • Hide Theme Header/Footer — inject CSS rules to hide the theme’s native header and footer, with customisable selectors.
  • Elementor Kit Integration — automatically adds elementor-default and elementor-kit-{ID} body classes so global colors, fonts, and styles apply.
  • Proper Asset Enqueuing — generates and enqueues each template’s CSS file via Elementor’s Post CSS API, so styles load in the head, not inline.
  • SEO Protection — template CPT pages are marked noindex, nofollow via meta tag and X-Robots-Tag header.
  • Editor Safety — header/footer injection is automatically suppressed inside the Elementor preview iframe and editor backend.
  • Environment Checks — verifies PHP 8.1+, WP 5.8+, and Elementor active on every admin load; displays admin notices when requirements are not met.
  • Lightweight — zero external dependencies beyond Elementor Free; no JavaScript frameworks, no database tables.
  • Privacy-friendly — stores only one wp_options row (bdw_ehfe_settings); collects no user data, sets no cookies, makes no external requests.

What you can do

  • Works with Elementor Free — no Pro license needed.
  • Display conditions by Post Type and URL pattern.
  • Hide theme header/footer with one click.

Who it is for

Agencies on a Tight Budget

Deliver custom headers/footers for clients without buying an Elementor Pro license for every site.

Bloggers & Creators

Add a consistent header (navigation) and a footer (social links) across posts and pages.

Small Business

Replace the theme’s generic header/footer with a custom design featuring CTA buttons and contact info.

Landing Pages

Use display rules to show a minimal header only on landing pages, keeping the full header elsewhere.

How it works

  1. Install & Activate

Upload the plugin via Plugins → Add New (or upload the ZIP). Activate it — the “H/F Templates” CPT appears automatically in the menu.

  2. Create Templates

Go to H/F Templates → Add New. Give it a title (e.g., “Main Header”) and click Edit with Elementor. Build the design visually.

  3. Configure

Go to Settings → Easy Header/Footer. Select the header and footer templates, enable “Hide Theme Header/Footer” if needed, and set display conditions.

Documentation

Questions before you start

Does this plugin work with the free version of Elementor?

Yes! That’s exactly the plugin’s purpose. You don’t need Elementor Pro — the free version is fully supported.

What happens if I deactivate the plugin?

Your templates still exist as posts (CPT). The header/footer just stops being injected. Reactivate the plugin to restore them instantly.

Can I use templates from the Elementor Library?

Yes. In addition to the dedicated H/F Templates CPT, the plugin also lists saved Elementor Library templates in the settings selector.

How long does it take to set up?

About 5 minutes. Install, create a template in Elementor, select it in settings, and you’re done.

Where are the plugin settings?

In Settings → Easy Header/Footer in the WordPress admin menu.

How do I create a header or footer template?

Go to H/F Templates → Add New. Give it a title (e.g., “Main Header”) and click Edit with Elementor. Build your design visually.

Is it compatible with any theme?

It works with most modern themes (2020+). The main requirement is that the theme calls wp_body_open() right after the tag.

Will it conflict with my theme’s header/footer?

You may see duplicates. Enable Hide Theme Header and/or Hide Theme Footer in settings and adjust the CSS selectors for your theme.
